Default Where is the ECU?

Hi I just bought a 2002 180hp coupe with 32K miles. It came with a GIAC chip. I am experiencing surging when I accelerate hard. I want to swap out the GIAC and put the stock chip back in just to see if it makes a difference. I was told the ECU is somewhere near the drivers side under the wipers. I looked last night and couldn't be sure without starting to dismantle a bunch of stuff. Could someone let me know where it is and what parts need to be removed to get to it? Although the car is still under warrany, I don't want to take it in with the GIAC in it.

P.S. If anyone has had the surging problem let me know. One shop suggested the diverter valve might be leaking.

Of course I know it has a turbo. Are you implying that all of them surge? Anyway, I found the ECU and removed it only to find out that it has a "chastity belt" with two tamper proof screws. Now the dilemma is whether or not to dremel the screws so they can be removed which would then indicate that I tampered with the ECU. This is turn may void the warranty if the dealer looks at the ECU. On the other hand, if I leave the GIAC chip in place (and don't replace it with the original), they may discover that the original chip has been replaced and void the warranty. Not sure what to do at this point.
