Nationwide has an accident forgiveness policy. You may have a free accident that won't hurt your premium. You should call your agent and explain it to them. They have an arbitration department that will go after the other guy for you to reclaim the money they spent.

 

Iwas rear-ended 3 weeks ago in michigan. I was NOT at fault. I was stopped at a red light and hit by a durrango (SUV YAY!). My rates did not go up and it was just shy of 4k im damage.

If I were you - I would claim it and deal with the insurance company. Do not deal with him unless he pays 100% of the repair bill. If he is insured, you should be fine. I do not understand why you couldn't file a report. Its hard to establish fault without a report.

 

the police have to file a case file, you have to tell your insuance and the dmv if its over $500, get thew guys insurance info and give it to your insurance
