i just got my car less than a month. but to see another audi tt in nyc is very rare. i saw one in a parking lot, so i checked it out. i notice that we both had the same year tt but my car has dual exhaust and his had single exhaust. we both have 2000 audi tt,both were 5 speed. whats the difference.

Just one has two and the other one!...Dah!...Just kidding.

Most 180hp's have one exhaust and most 225hp's have the dual exhaust.

But I have the 225hp and I went to a single out! Reason is too me no need for a dual exhaust because there is only one turbo exhaust anyway, so why the dual?
I went with the single out 3" dp and exhaust.

Actually you need too look at at your intake manifold to distinguish the 180 from the 225!
The 225hp has the throttle on the drivers side and the 180hp has the throttle on the passengers side! and of course your manual in the glove box!
Hey! on here there are no dumb questions, just that most questions can be found by research, few people on here get tired of answering the same ones over and over.
Me, I don't mind If I know I will let you know if I don't I research then ask.
Have fun with your TT!

If yours is a 2000 with 5 spd, it's a 180. 225s began in 2001 and ALL are 6spd.

Edit: at one time there was an aftermarket kit to add a fake second exhaust to the 180 FWD, but you'd have to buy the 225 dual exhaust rear valence. As I recall, the 180 quattro can be retrofit with a 225 OEM dual exhaust (again, you nneed to buy the 225 rear valence) but the 180 FWD cannot as there is not enough room under the car to fit the muffler...it needs the fake second exhaust.

cheers.

ty guys,

but i know nothing about this car. i am going to look for the throttle body. but i do know i get very bad gas mileage, full tank and mixed use i get about 280 miles. thats only 20 miles a gallon, if i have the 180 shouldn't be a little better, even for mixed use and heavy foot.

Mixed usage with heavy foot...that seems about right. Mixed usage with light foot and you'll get 22-25 or so. FWIW, the mileage is about the same between the 180 and 225: near 20 in town and near 30 on the highway.

I had both in the garage for about a year and never really saw a difference other than the 180 has a smaller tank (about 14.5) versus the 225's 16.3 or so.

If you have All wheel Drive you have 225hp, otherwise you have only 180. I think that's the easiest way to know...

Seriously?
Audi does make a 180 Quattro TT.
It's amazing how little some forum members know about their cars.

I double that! SERIOUSLY!!

Why post or comment if you know nothing about the TT's 180hp and 225hp.

Research! If not do not give out wrong info!

I know my TT not everything but then I ask if I do not or I RESEARCH!
