Default '00 a4 won't start...please help!

Hi guys,

So here is the story over the last few weeks when I started my car it would slightly hesitate before starting maybe due to the fact I live in canada and it's been really cold here, but to make a long story short after driving my car home from work and letting it sit a few hours it will no longer start at all. The battery isn't dead I can still watch my indash dvd and the interior lights are bright, but when I turn the key all i get is a slight tick and nothing. I tried jumping the car nothing, I plug in my engine code reader and all I get is error butno codes which is strange as it's never done that before.....Any idea what it could be guys?, I'm thinkig starter but i'd like to see if i can trouble shoot it any further before I tow it to the shop. Also I just had my indash dvd installed 2 days ago, but that shouldn't matter should it?

Thanks in advance, JC

If it were imobilizer the car would start but then die. Do the lights dim when you try to start the car. If they do, then you have a starter issue. If they dont, you need to check the small wire at thestarter for voltage. If you dont have 12 volts then you have a starter circuit malefunction ie ignition switch, clutch pedal switch or park neutral switch, or a wiring problem. If you have 12 volts, you have a starter, starter cable or ground issue.
