I have a problem no one's ever heard of much less diagnose.

The center display works perfectly in P or N. When I put it in any gear it goes out EXCEPT for the gear indicator at the bottom.

If I haven't moved and put it back in P or N the display comes back.

If I have moved, the display does NOT come back. Sometimes the OK symbol comes on after moving.

Any ideas?

 

This may sound too simple/silly, but did you try pressing the reset button on the wiper stalk? Pressing that will turn the display on/off, and the display may turn itself on for things like changing gears.

You sir, are a genius. IT WORKED!

Started the car, stepped on the brake, put it in gear, then started playing with the function and zeroing switches.

When the display came on I was so shocked I couldn't remember if everything was actually there, which, of course it was.

This is the first time I've ever fixed a car without tools or money.
