1996 AC Climate Control
 

Hello!

Did some searching for this problem but all I came up with was a few threads from 2010 that had similar issues but not exactly the same.

My climate control unit won't engage the AC, if I press it the snowflake will show up for the duration that the button is held and then turn off. Looking through other threads we applied power directly to the clutch which will turn it on and I'll get nice cold AC blowing. The relay has been tested and is good to go, the high pressure switch is connected, the low pressure switch is fine. Also pulled the unit out and shorted pin 8 to ground which turned on the clutch and blew nice cold air.

Is there another sensor or switch that we're overlooking that would prevent the AC from engaging or is the climate control definitely the issue and in need of replacement? I unfortunately do not have access to a VAG-Com but saw the thread on building your own interface and may give that shot at some point in the near future.
