Default 1998 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 Audi questions.

Ok, after reading through threads on here, I still have no idea what I need.

I want to replace all my speakers in my car and I've read that their a pain and nothing fits right, so I want to ask people who have done it. I have the bose system currently in my car. I just bought a Pioneer Avic N2 HU. I'm not looking to spend a ton on speakers either I just want an upgrade. If you guys could give me some advice on sizes and speakers that would be wonderful and if there are any tricks I should know about for installing them.

I think you're going to have to replace all the stock wiring and other BS or else the rear speakers won't work. I don't really remember why but anything in my sig will work in your car and sounds great. It's pretty cheap too.

Not sure about the '98s, but I know in my 99.5, there was a built in amp in one of the back speakers (I think driver side, but don't quote me). Pretty much, if you replace the back speakers, you have to add an amp as well. I kept the stock head unit, and used the stock wiring, except for the power line to the amp, which runs stright from the battery, and the ground wire.
Pretty sure I used Alpine 6 1/2" speakers, and I had to use a supplied spacer to make them fit...

That could be it. It was actually a part of the speaker on my car. Real PITA until I figured out what the issue was...

I just dont want to buy speaker and then find out they won't fit. The rear door and deck don't look like they will be two bad cause I believe they are 5.25" and 6.5" respectively. It's the front door I can't find out what size they are. I just figured I'd ask some people who have replaced theirs and know what fits well and what doesn't.

You may have checked this already, and it doesn't really help much, does it. Crutchfield even says, "no exact replacement" for those little tweeters

I read that yes, but there are also regular speakers in the front door not just the tweeters which is whats getting me why they don't list that there are speakers there.
