It almost balances out in gas mileage anyways. To run properly the car has to retard the timing for the lower gas which means you lose performance and gas mileage.

the price difference per fill between premium and regular is around $ 3.00 (.20 more per gallon @ 15 gallons (to make calculations easy)) and if you drive 10k a year, and get (conservitavely) 333 miles per full tank (again to make calculations easy) thats AT MOST 30 times you are going to be filling up your car in a year... @ $3 extra per fill up thats at most $90 ....
i cant think of a better way to spend $90 in one year (under 25 cents per day) to keep your car running much cleaner, more efficient, less stressed, get better gas mileage, less wear and tear on your engine/ fuel injectors.
also - think about it this way ... last summer i paid over $4.00 per gallon for premium gas. last weekend, for premium, i paid $1.99 per gallon SO if you look at it that way you are actually SAVING 50% per gallon and getting premium! ya know? with gas so cheap its an easy way to help your car out and not even think about it. just pretend that the price for premium is jsut a reallllly good price for 87 octane from last summer : )
it is definately worth it, especially for high compression motor, its a must!
dont cut yourself short, it will lead to bigger and more costly problems in the future
AGREED...not that much difference in priceOriginally Posted by flynnr

I agree too...there's a HUGE difference when running 87 vs. 91+ octane. I get better gas mileage, the car doesn't stutter, and the engine runs much smoother overall. And really, what I tell myself is, at every fill up, what's another $2? Regardless of whether gas is $1.99/gal or $4.59/gal. Think of that extra couple bucks as an investment in keeping your car running at its best.
