The circled connection
whats good everyone , I recently got a 1999 Audi A4 2.8 but it’s in pretty bad condition but I want to fix it , first off the temperature gauge for the coolant keeps on flashing but it’s full and it’s not over heating , I have left it overnight and started it at cold start and it still pops up. I checked under the reservoir and I noticed it was unplugged under and the wires were just hanging , but I have no idea what type of wires they are and where it leads to . Anyone know? It’s right under the reservoir

That's the temp level sensor. When plugged in and working correctly, it'll tell you if the level in the reservoir is low. It's often forgotten when putting the car back together and you'll get a warning on your dash to plug it back in. Luckily it's very easy to do.
When you plugged it back in did the warning go away?
