Default 1999 Audi a4 2.8L 30v cool performance trick

Hello all. I was doing my vacuum lines yesterday and was surprised to find that my intake manifold changeover valve was seized. From what i understand this valve kicks in for higher performance over 4,500 >, < rpm. I'll give a small write up here to show what I did to bring it back to life, and maybe someone could post a picture of their vaccuum lines because mine are so screwed up right now (not my fault).

First, take the coils off. Careful when removing the lower right hand nut, as it's easy to break that electrical sensor on it. Hold it with vice grips or a wrench at the bottom:

Next remove test your changeover valve for operation. if it's at all stiff, take it off.

Don't lose the spring in the inside of it when you remove it, you won't find it after.

Squirt a little wd 40 or pb on the bearing, not too much because this stuff will wash grease out of bearings, but just enough to slip things up a bit...

Take your valve inside and run some warm water, squirt a little soap into your valve and run the warm water over the valve. use the valve as a syringe to suck up the water, then squirt the soapy water out of the valve by squeezing it in and out.

After mine was clean I dropped some PAG (a/c compressor oil) in the side that the actuator arm is on the valve, hoping this would slip things up a little more, but at the same time not end up getting sucked into the vacuum system.

Test your valve for proper operation once reinstalled. (dont forget your spring). If it's still a little sticky, you probably need to clean your intake manifold out to get better operation. In older cars oil in the manifold can slime things up a bit.

Hope I help someone! Let me know what happens when you do this anyone! See attachments for pictures!
