2.8 30v chip ?????
what companys offer a chip for the 2.8q 30v??... ive heard about the speedtuning chip but i want to see what other options i have.

I think most companies do offer chips for 30V. I'm sure GIAC and APR do.
The thing is, I don't know if it's worth the money to go with other companies for the amount of gain you're getting. Those companies charger around $400-600 for the chip and with the 2.8 you'll be getting only so much gain. Talk to hiwords, I think he has his 2.8 chipped. |
A bunch of major companies do. If you have tip, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...d=p3911.c0.m14

All of the main companies do. APR, GIAC, and I think Revo does too, but kriptonik is correct, you dont get much bang from any chip on a 2.8, they simply are not designed to go fast. Spending 400-500 bucks on one of the higher end companies like APR and GIAC is a waste of money, you get the same gains from SpeedTuning for more than half that price. I just got mine done through SpeedTuning and I think its great. For the small gains it gives, they are noticeable and the way it smooths out the power band and improves the throttle response is night and day difference. Acceleration is much smoother and there is a fairly noticeable torque difference in the midrange. Definitely worth going with SpeedTuning IMO. Save the more aggressive chipsets for a turbo'd engine.

is it a big difference from stock?? or not even noticebale

Largely noticeable. I wasn't expecting to really feel anything at all, but there was a good change. By all means, its not like you're gonna hop in your car and start it up with the new tune and feel a huge pull, any chip on a 2.8 only gets you 6-8hp if you're lucky and about 15tq in the midrange so its not like all of a sudden you're gonna jump off the line and feel like you just put a supercharger on the car, but for what you get it is noticeable. It is much smoother, less jerky, pulls a bit harder in the midrange and seems to improve gas mileage, at least I've noticed a gain of at least 1.5mpg. Compared to stock, it is significantly better though, definitely worth it. If you act quickly, before the end of August I believe, you can get in on the SpeedTuning group buy that was recently organized and get the GB price of 125 for the tune. 125 is a really great price for what you get and like we said before, you arent going to get anything much more than the 6-8 hp and 15 ft/lbs with APR or GIAC so why spend 2-3 times the money?
