Default 3rd timing belt job

It all started when I got my A6 and found out how nice these road machines were. When my wifes Chevy Tracker died we picked up a VW Passat GLX 4motion with the 2.8 30v. Then my daughter picks up a 98 A4 with the same 2.8 30v. So now i find myself staring at 3 timing belt jobs, Ugh! I started on the A6 and did the TB without needing to move the front of the car to the service position. plenty of room there. Next came the VW, this time I moved the front end to the service position because there was not enough room to even turn a wrench in there. The service position gave me about the same amount of working space as the A6. When it was time for the A4 I decided to swing the front end out, so I could get in there and fix a few of its oil leaks. Over the course of a year I was able to get all 3 done and I have to say the A6 was by far the easiest. Swinging the front end out on the A4 was not much more work then the Passat's service position, but it made the job a lot easier. If and when I have to do the A4 or VW again I will swing out the front ends.

BTW...is the camshaft holding tool used on the 2.8 30v the same that can be used on the 2.7T?

Dang man, you oughta be a pro by now lol. I would think the tool is similar enough to do the job, though it might need a little modification. I dunno the dimensions of the two motors, so i can't tell you for sure
