Default 97 A4 quattro 1.8T, speed drop very fast when release teh gas pedal,

New Owner, I know the front axle is worn out ,need to be replaced this Fri, any clue on this phenomena? it is just not drift/coast like those japanese cars while release the gas pedal...

Thanks in advance for your response.

By drift do you mean coast? I think, but I'm not positive, with these cars being AWD that slows down the rear wheels more so than a FWD car when letting off the gas. I could be way off but that's my guess.

Yes, Nick, it dosent coast too much ,and got the feeling the speed drops like some one brakes it all of sudden.

Hmmm, that's a little extreme. I'm not really one that understands car mechanics much, so I'm at a loss for what could be causing the problem.

Sounds like a brake caliper is hung up.
