Default 98.5 remote range increase

Finally found the antenna after a little research. Heres the DIY. The wire was very short so I spliced on 24 gauge speaker wire (clear insulation) and hid it all around the rear window trim. Then I stripped off about 6" of insulation at the end for better reception. Before there was just a 20' range, now its more than a city block.

thank you soo much for finding this, I have to be within 10' of the car and my remote has brand new batteries, ima try it this week!

so, was it connected to a box under the rear seat, or did u have to drop a pillar cover and a corner of the headliner?...a pic of the wire would be appreciated....

freakin awesome, just what I was looking for!

Did you look under the seat? Its really easy to miss, the wire itself is only about 26 gauge, and usually tangled with other wires. If that fails, try tracing it from the central locking pump.

Has anyone had any experience with this on a B6? I've read that the antenna was relocated to the locking pump which is in the trunk. My range isn't horrible, but extending it would make it that much better.

I hope to hear more of what's going on with this. I'd love more range on my remote and have always been sure it could be done. Please post.

it's definately not under the seat...its been soo damn hot I have yet to do any further searching, but if anyone would happen to have a pic of what I am supposed to be looking for on my B5 1998 A4 1.8T, it would REALLY be appreciated!...

I am sure that at least 30% of the B5ers on here have this problem....I have found three DIYs on the subject, one for an S4, one for a vw and another for a B5...in all cases the damn antenna was in a different place!...and mine was in none of the places they were in on the DIY cars!....

like I said, pics will be greatly appreciated....my range is about 10'...it could be worse, but I would be ecstatic if it got better!

anybody figure out yet where the hell the antenna is. My buddys 99 1.8t's antenna is not under his back seat or in the passenger C-pillar, so where else could it be? (he has a pre-facelift model). We found out the hard way by taking it all apart but where could it be? Help please on this as we are still looking this minute.
