98 a4 blue smoke on acceleration. Turbo?

Hi all im having a problem with my car puffing blue smoke when i accelerate from a stop, the guy i bought my car from said its notorious for this year that when you put the KO4S upgrade that when u hit boost and stop it will basically choke on its own oil?? could this be true if so, vaccume related?? he also said it hasnt been tuned since the upgrades will this eliminate or help this problem??

Hi, hope you don't mind I moved your thread to the B5 A4 section where it's likely to have more responses.

To start with, there isn't such thing as a "K04S". The K04 designed for the longitudinal 1.8T is a K04-0015. If what's on your car is anything other than that, but also has certain K04 components, then it's considered a "hybrid" K04.

It seems to me, the real question is where the oil is coming from that is being burned in the exhaust. Pretty much 2 primary locations:
1) valve stem seals
2) turbocharger CHRA

1) Valve stem seals do degrade over time/miles. Worn valve stem seals are usually characterized by burning oil when accelerating after sitting with the engine idling (like at a stoplight), and sometimes also with oil burning at cold startup.

2) It's possible that oil is leaking past the seals in the turbocharger. However the amount of leaking oil should be proportional to oil pressure; oil pressure increases with increasing engine speed. So I'd expect burning oil from the turbo while engine RPMs are higher, such as when free-revving the engine.

Yep most likely the stem seals as MM mentioned, keep an eye out on your oil levels.
My stem seals have worn and I gradually use up oil, have to top it up every now and then, a bit annoying but meh its alrite for now. Plan to rebuild the engine which is when mine will be fixed.
