98 audi thermostat hosing problems

I have a 98 audi a4 quattro 1.8t. And i needed to replace the thermostat hosing. During the uninstalling. I broke the screw. removed the screw. but I destroyed the threads and the hole in which the new screw goes to. Is there anyway to correct this?

Drill hole , tap new threads.

yeah, pretty much the only way. you could try to helicoil too

Helicoil would be the best choice depending on how much empty space there is around the bolt in the thermostat housing bore, if you have to widen it and remove the metal insert for the next size up bolt then it'll probably crack tehre in the new future.

tried the helicoil. The Bolt would not tighten all the way. I would get to a point and just keep spinning. Tried to see if it would be a tight enough to seal the housing. It is not. guess I will have to take it to the shop unless there is a type of adhesive that will prevent it from leaking?
