a4 headlight fitment question

hi there all. i am a noob here, and to audis, as i have been a BMW guy until now.

i have searched to find if headlights from a 2000 will fit on my 98 a4 with no luck. i am looking to put xenon lights on my car with and i only want OEM parts.

will this work?

thank you.

Look at the classifieds here and other audi sites! 99.5 and up will work, or the 2000 and up with xenons. You will have to trim the fender!

Welcome to the forums! This is a pretty common mod, as the pre 99.5 halogens (like the ones i have) are dim and look awful lol. The big problem is that the OEM "facelift" (a term given to the 99.5 and up B5's) headlights are kinda hard to come by because everyone wants them! This leaves you with a few options:

-Keep your eyes on the classifieds here and other forums like the 'zine, and hope you get lucky with a guy parting out his car
-Go aftermarket OEM, like Valeo or some such brand (can get very pricey :o )
-Go full aftermarket. There are a lot of brands on ebay and places like that offering aftermarket headlights for these cars. Thing you have to look out for there is that many of them use plastic lenses that will melt if you add HID ballasts.

Good luck!

I've done it, not that hard to do. It's more if you have the balls to take a sawsall to your fender. you just trim it till it fits.

akielb? how did it turn out for you? did it look factory?

It will look factory if you follow the DIY carefully and only trim what you need to trim. The part you grind away is hidden by the corner lamp, so you don't have to be an artist with a grinder, but you do want to be careful - if you go too far it'll be visible. Look at the pics in the DIY though and they'll show you what you need to see.

The alternative is my lights - look at the pics in my sig and the pics of the lights in my album (click on my screenname to see my profile, and on the right side down low is the album link). They're Depo lights - replacement two-piece projector lights. They have separate headlight housings and corner lamps, but they're fully clear, chrome interiors, and projector low beams, like the OEM projectors. They're HID safe, and I got them from seller MakotoAutoTrends on eBay for about $150 shipped (for headlights and corners - HIDs were a separate purchase). You get all the benefits of projector lighting, and don't have to trim the fenders because they're a bolt-in replacement for the OEM two-piece lights. Take a look on eBay - do a search for "Audi A4 projector" and they should come up. They're listed as 95-97 RS4 headlights - they are NOT the halo lights.

Or, I can supply you with a set of genuine Audi ecodes, HID-ready.

thanks for the info. i think i am going to try and pick up some OEM headlights from a newer a4 and so the mod.
is the lens glass on the OEM lights?
what should i expect to pay for a set?
