Default Acceleration Problem

I have been noticing a problem with acceleration. I used to be able to feel a little acceleration but now I go up to 5000 rpm without really feeling much of a pull. THe turbo might not be kicking in either. Other than the turbo, what else could be causing this.

I have 2001 a4 1.8t

Only the airbag cel is on, but that's been on. I might go check it out though, if there could be dtc's without cel

def check that and if you were to install a boost gauge that would help greatly. then we could actually tell what your boost levels are

So the scan would tell if I'm in limp mode? Cause that seems like its the problem, not getting much acceleration even though I can go fast.

no, it wont. it will show any dtc's that may cause limp mode

a boost gauge would tell you instantly if you were in limp mode or not.

Hmm,it would but I dont think I should get it just to tell if I'm in limp mode. I guess ill get it scanned then go from there.

Also how would I know if its just the turbo, if its out

tell tale signs of bad turbo are usually a "dentist drill" sound when accelerating or lots of white smoke coming out of the exhaust. You should def look into a boost gauge, they can really help in diagnosing problems and they're easy to install. Every turbo car should have one.

Does turbo usually go out at a set amount of miles or is it random?
