Acceleration problems :\
Sup everyone, I'm having a problem and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
So I'm driving on the highway and randomly my car powers down. battery flashes. Pull up to the side.. turn the car off, turn it back on and everything is fine. Then I come to a stop sign, stop, and then i hit the gas but car isn't moving forward but my RPMs are going up. like i'm in neutral.. after about a few seconds the car starts going forward. Now when i am actually moving I don't have this problem, but my car feels sluggish. How bad is this? ;x |
Manual or automatic?

Car turning off while driving is definitely electrical. You'll have to ask someone who knows about all that.
As far as the accel: Have you checked your transmission fluid? I doubt it is something so simple (and cheap) but it just sounds like you're super low on tranny fluid. Check it (correctly - I believe car cold and on a flat surface, or maybe car warm?) and if I'm right, you'll just have to put a few quarts in. Also, of course, if you have to put some in it's probably leaking. A change of tranny fluid and gasket will be like $100 at the mechanic. |
I agree it might be low on ATF. But....why? It doesn't just evaporate. Do you have any red puddles where you park your car?
Checking the level is complicated and messy. ATF has to be at 35˚C, blah, blah, blah. Search around, you'll find the procedure. But it's no longer a dip-stick world. |
