Default airbag light weirdness

so my high beams weren't working, so i went into the fuse box and looked around found some fuses blown and replaced them. then i start my car and my airbag light is on. i check the fuses and **** and nothing blown. i drive, 2 minutes later it goes off. i park i get out i get back in i drive, its on again. i'm staring at it, and it turns off a few minutes later.

make any sense? i know it shouldn't be on, but it turns off randomly, every time.

You need to have the airbag module scanned to see which one is tripping the light. It's strange that it goes out though - every time I've seen anything to do with the airbag light, once it comes on, it requires an active reset with Vagcom (a store's scan tool won't help you - you need Vagcom to do this). Makes me wonder if you have a short somewhere that's just tripping the light. If you have no stored airbag faults, I'd start suspecting this.

I think it was the staring that did it! \-D

Was your car ever in an accident? I had a similar problem, but mine a tree jumped out at me, the bag was nice enough to become a tasty marshmellow in my face...so some stickiness, $$$ later, and a new airbag installed etc etc ... the airbag light is still on!

Dealer wants an arm and a leg for a new module. Does anyone recommend a module repair or heard of module rebuilds? If so where/who?

don't need a module repair

jeremy is right the airbag light can't go away unless its killed in vag com. i turned my car on with no airbags hooked up and got the light even after connecting them it didn't go away until it was reset via vag com.

OP id suspect a short tripping the light.
