For all you 2.8-er's

Hey guys

Well today it was very nice here is MI so me and my buddy decided it would be a perfect chance to buff out my car, something that I have wanted to do since I bought it back in September.

First of all, I have been trying to clean up my chrome window trim that 2.8's come with for a few months now. I have tried 3 different chrome polish products to refinish the chrome window trim, as I am sure all of us want to do, and nothing has worked.

During the buff, my buddy started buffing out a scratch near the passenger window, and the buffer nearly jumped out of his hands and swiped the chrome trim and part of the window. We were worried at first as buffing a window or rubber trim can be harmful, but when we looked up close, the chrome trim looked nearly brand new.

We were SOOOO surprised and happy because we have been trying to refinish my trim and finally found a solution. So, I took the buffer around all the chrome trim, as well as the body of the car, and my car is now looking brand new. I am very excited now and the trim DEFINATELY stands out a bunch more. So now, I am passing this on to you guys, as some of you have probably paid a detailer TOO much money to do it.

O ya, as I was just about to leave my buddys house in my "BRAND NEW" looking audi, I went to close my trunk, and it wouldnt close. I tried unlocking/relocking it and the latch seems to not be grabbing onto the bar on the bottom of the trunk. Do you guys know what might be wrong?

I hope this might help some of you out...

later guys

Post pictures of the trim? I have wanted mine newer looking so badly! What did you use to buffer it?
You should be able to fix the trunk problem pretty easily by playing around with the latch and the bar on the bottom. I had the same problem while trying to lessen trunk rattle from my subwoofer.

3000M rubbing compound, white gel liquid.

it was amazing how quickly and cleanly the trim cleaned up

i figured just the sun and rain and wear and tear had ripped the chrome polish off the trim and that it couldnt be refinished, but i was very surprised to see it come out nice. i mean our cars are 8+ years old

ill try and post pics later tonight of tomorrow sometime in the sunshine :) :)

and finished the trim off with chrome polish to touch it up but i dont think it did anything

Lol I think the reason your chrome polish doesn't do anything is because it's not real chrome?

^^definately, and the fact that the chrome wasnt actually chrome because it was covered in 8 years of dirt and grime that was baked onto it
