alright guys.. need some opinions
heres the deal.. just got my car back from the body shop after hitting a deer.. before the accident i got chipped with APR, other mods are in the SIG.. car ran awesome for the first 3 weeks or so, and then over a 3 day period i gradually lost my boost.. had no turbo power, and and my exhaust got extremely quiet, way out of the norm cause this thing really barked before.. now ive had a loose wastegate nut and have that rattle confirmed by my mechanic.. when we put it up on the lift and i was hitting the throttle he shot my exhaust with a temp gun, from my tips all the way to the downpipe was warm, but not hot, even after driving over 20 miles of highway to the shop.. he then shot my CAT and got over 150 degree difference in temperature.. so our conclusion was that it was a plugged CAT (no cels at all) and that would explain my non existant boost and the ugly sounding exhaust noise and so on.. also the CAT had a crack right near the turbo flange.. since that first checkup, and before the accident my car started "re-boosting" if you will.. not nearly fully, but up to between 5-8 psi under loads.. and my throttle response was still good indicating the chip was still working just fine.. but after getting the car back it has gone back to the non audible exhaust note and the ugly blaahhhhh noise with no boost and no power.. i bought a test pipe (might as well make this problem a new modification =) and will be going back over wednesday to install and tighten the wastegate.. i guess my question to you guys is, does this all sound like it could be the problem and solution? or might something else be at play.. i run between 18-22 hg at idle.. 26 hg or so when in gear and off the throttle.. we didnt hear (although didnt test) for boost leaks but will this time around.. any ideas as to what else to go over and cover while were under there? i pick his brain all the time but having the forum here is way better than just a minor gear head and a master VW mech.. anything at all guys would be appreciated.. thanks in advance
im just hoping we're right and this is all solved come wednesday.. haha wishful thinking right?
