Default alternator questions

My first question is if it matters if I get a 90 or 120 amp? I mean would the fitment be different for them or could it mess up the electrical system not getting the right one? Also, I've seen diy's saying that I need to remove the fan pulley for the bottom bolt but it looks like it can be accessed without having to do that. Any quick help would be great

I'd say stice with whatever alternator you have. There are different ones with different ratings for different cars, and I'd assume Audi had a reason for that.

if the alternators are the same case, going from a 90 to a 120 won't cause a problem. the alternator will only provide as much power as the car needs....that said i don't know if the 90 and 120 are the same case.

Ok thanks. I ended up getting one from a junkyard and they didn't even know the amp rating. I put it on already and it works perfectly, so I' m happy. I'm in the process of putting together a little diy.
