Another speedometer sensor question
Alright, found this website through google. Go light. I'm very new to anything vehicle related.
I've got a 1996 Audi A4 2.8 with a check engine light and non-functional speedo/odometer. I pulled the Speedometer sensor and sure enough there was corrosion on the wire and it had broken. I ordered another one and it was shipped with a hard plastic cover over the sensor portion.
My question however simple is do I need to remove this? Is this only for shipping or is it a better design?
I know, basic. But again. I'm new!

but the speedo sensor is like $20 or less, im sure you can get them at the steelership or you can go to any vw/audi mechanic and theyll be able to order one for you. im not sure how easy it is to do though.
