G12 is what you want - the pink stuff. That is what should be in there now. If you mix standard antifreeze with it, you'll end up with a gel that will ruin your day. G12 only. You will likely have to go to a dealer or order online - most car parts stores I've been to don't stock it.

I picked mine up at a VW dealer in town, it was $25 for a gallon. Just ask for a gallon of G12. Definitely don't use just anything though.

it will gel eventualy, dont worry. when your car is overheating on the side of the road or your water pump/thermostat/radiator gets clogged you will wish you spent the extra $10 on the correct stuff. things like this will make you hate your audi. sure you can save 5 dollars by getting the cheap stuff, but its going to be $2500 to replace your engine in 6 months. if you dont completely flush it out now (drain, fill with water, run it for 20 min, drain, fill with water, run for 20 min, drain, fill with correct fluid), this will happen. i guarantee it.

cheap becomes expensive when it comes to cars. Now before you completely ruin your engine, you may want to flush the system and install the 50/50 water and g12 now. If you werent so inclined to throw crap coolent into the car, you would of used your head and just topped it off with water and been fine

ive been hearing prestone commercials on the radio lately that **** me off. they claim that you can mix it with ANY color coolant. which is completely false. you can mix it with some but not all. if you bought prestone for the top off and you end up destroying your car, this might actualy be a worthwhile lawsuit. teach them a lesson about making up facts.
