I have a 98 Audi avant that won't start. Changed feul pump, cuz someone said that's what it was. Did not fix problem I've been researching myself and sounds like it might be the starter. I don't have the means to take it to a shop at this time so I was just wondering if anyone has changed starter on their own and was it a chore?

 

1. What engine?
2. Does it try to turn over?
3. If so: What does it sound like when you try to turn it over?

 

It is 2.8. It doesn't try to turn over. does not make any noise at all.

 

Have you checked your battery (with a DMM)?
