Default Auto Trans Reverse slipping

Well I got the motor running and now at the worst time found out my Reverse only kicking in for about 3 seconds and then if you give it gas the motor just revs and you coast... It is an automatic code AG5 01V. Doesn't seem like it but would low trans fluid cause this it doesn't seem like it, but thanks to audi/vw you can't easily check that
Ok that's me^^ Has anyone else had this issue? If so did it go further and the drive gears failed or just the reverse?

That sucks! Sorry dude.

Just a quick easy way of checking fluid. Get the car to operating temp & pull the fluid check plug. If fluid comes out at all it is probably at least good enough to eliminate fluid level as a reason for the problem.
It should be done when the car is level though.

From what another friend said...
You have a planetary automatic. DSG is more like a pair of manuals (each 3spd) crammed together. In theory you could take your tranny to an Amco or someone else that does automatic tranny repair and they could fix it. It's actually a ZF 5-spd that is pretty common in German cars, it was used on BMWs and stuff as well.

So I dunno

From my research, it seems like the DSG didn't come until the newer 2.0T cars.
