I would go with a GIAC chip $450 first (you will need to get a diverter valve at the same time)
forge/bailey DV- $150(alot of the time when you go to a local "tuner", they will give you a deal if you buy the chip and dv at the same time)
FMIC- $320 (custom godspeed set-up, some DIY involved)
Custom exhaust- $350 (2.5" exhaust piping, running to a magnaflow muffler, with a nice set of tips)
LaBree HFC/DP/TP- $100-250 (depends on emmisions in your state (if you have to smog you need a cat))

thats a pretty good start-up list....you should look into a tip chip (altlhough I am not sure if one is available for a '97)
And if you plan on making bigger power, the road that most atomatics take is LEVEL TEN

you can search on here and research more before making any decisions

NOTE: If this car is new to you , have it checked out, it is an 11 year old car...this is when the control arms go, motor mounts, tranny mounts, cv boots, oil cooler...and the list goes on and on...somewhere between 90-120K a lot of the parts I listed go out....along with gaskets and seals....

before performing a single mod, make sure that all of you maintenance is taken care of

here is another good site that you should take a look at audidiy.com

there are also many free mods available for our cars, just take a look in our DIY section....I remeber reading somewhere that you can convert a regular auto to a tiptronic...sounded kinda cool

alright, well, I hope something up there made some sense

gl!

if your on a budget you could,
$100 FMIC DIY
$90 ebay Test Pipe
$125 Speed Tunning Chip (which you will not need the FMIC)
$40 Audi TT DV

That will give you a good start, and when you get the money upgarde either part.

mr. cap, the piping alone costs more than $100, not to mention cores themselves are like $90

I got a custom-assembled piping kit (2.25" hotside to 2.5") which included 8 pipes, a 28x7x2.5" core, 16 t-clamps, and 8 hose / couplers for $189 -- not bad at all.

Oster, let's put it this way:

Is it worth upgrading an automatic honda? No.

Is it worth upgrading an automatic Audi? Yes. Tiptronics are steezin', and there's several guys on AZ and a couple on here with tips that would blow M3s out of the water.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like an ******* -- I'm just saying that with the notion that he wants to lay down some power at the wheels, and he'll need a much better setup.

ANd you guys think 7-9 connections and a $90 ic is the right way to go?

Little tip, every connection you make causes more turbulance in the pipes and effects the flow. If you want better than stock, its fine. If you want it done right, you need to have it done right. You should be able to do it with 2 or 3 pipes. Thats 4-5 connections tops.

Cincy, I'm expecting some of my pipes not to be used. You can do it with just a 45 degree bend and a 90 degree bend per side, right?
