Is it 1.8T? 2.8? I don't know if the Avant comes in both engines or not. If you have the 1.8T, the best and first upgrade you should do is a chipped ECU. Make sure you fix any vacuum leaks before you chip it, and get a new diverter valve to maximize your performance increase.

Upgrades all depend on how much you are willing to spend. If you want to spend $1000s then you can do big turbo, exhaust, etc. But if you buy a bigger turbo, it usually requires buying and installing more performance parts like injectors, air intake, etc.

i also have 2 other audis a
1996 audi A4 2.8 Quattro12v stick
and a 1996 audi A4 2.8 12v auto FWD :/
but those where my first audis i just bought the avant and im looking to selling the other two and but the money into modes for the 99 A4 avant

 

I know almost nothing about the V6s. I've heard though that there aren't many options for modding. Hopefully someone else can help you out there!

 

Mod wise there isn't much at all for the 2.8 motor so really your options are looks. Lower, wheels, switch/paint bumpers
