Default AWD head on an ATW Engine?

Hello all. I recently purchased a 2000 audi a4 1.8t 5 speed with 89000 for a great deal. I've been doing alot of research on these cars lately and couldn't find any threads on this. Car runs great but there appears to be some custom work. I wanted to start doing some mods to the car but wanted to completely redo the timing belt/water pump/thermostat etc. When i looked into the engine code on the top of the motor it reads AWD. Research shows me that is a 2000-05 Jetta engine code... Everything runs great on the car, but i was wondering... Is that normal/ok? Will i run into problems doing the timing belt kit? i/e should the kit be purchased for a ATW engine like the original for the car? Or should I now be looking for a AWD engine code kit? Or should i simply sell this frankenstein motor car and buy something easier? New to this so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
