Audi A4 B5 - MY99 2.4 V6 - Limp mode?
My car is currently in limp mode -
* Restricted to 4th gear
* The car always just shows its in D and will never change no matter what gear is selected
* Reverse works , neutral etc, the car is drivable
How it occurred:
a few weeks ago I was driving at around 5kmh, the car started beeping and electronic stability light came on, car was instantly restricted to 4th
It has stayed this way consistently since it occurred.
What ive checked / Tried:
* Scanned car with Vag-Com, showed no error codes besides some unrelated ones about the HVAC. Cleared those codes now there are no error codes. I do have the green soft warning for rear brake pads and that's it.
* Removing the battery for a few hours
* Check all fuses , then ermoving and reseating
* Checking TCU - all clean and dry , Removed and reseated
* Throttle bottle adaptation with vag-com and the ignition ket trick
* Checking in vag-com for valid solenoid values - checked all and they had readings
Is there something im missing here? Im at a loss car is stuck in a protective mode for something being wrong but nothing is showing as being at fault?
Anything else i can check or try?

Is the car tiptronic?
When people refer to limp mode they are usually talking about the engine being in limp mode, but I do know the transmission has some type of protective mode as well.
Does the car fire up fine? Drive? Is the ESP light still flashing? That's usually a sign of a bad crankshaft position sensor.
