Default big end bolt tightening torque?

I need to check the big end bearings on my 1.9tdi quattro. Can anyone tell me the tightening torque of the big end bolts and the sump (oil pan) bolts.

many thanks, Gill

My US spec Bentley doesn't cover that motor, but just in case someone has it, can you clarify what a "big end bolt" is? Is that the damper pully bolt at the end of the crankshaft?

hi there, sorry, I thought you guys used the term big end as well haha. the bolts that keep the cap on the bottom of the connecting rod. There's a worrying knocking noise coming from the engine and I reckon the big end bearings, or at least one of them is nearly dead. What's a big end called in america just out of interest?

I don't think we have a term like that here. I think most guys would just call it the rod bearing caps. I wish my Bentley showed that motor, or I'd get those specs for you.

Certainly here in scotland and britain in general it is a connecting rod (usually con-rod) with a big end and a little end.

I dont think the Tdi engine is all that popular in the states, not when petrol (gas) is so cheap. Over here petrol is around £1.40 per litre, think that works out about $11-12 a gallon (uk gallon though). Diesel is even more expensive at about £1.50 per litre.

Not even offered here. That's why my Bentley doesn't show the 1.9 motor.
