I got a K03/K04 hybrid from GPopShop and it's been fine. ECS has K03s and K04s. Do NOT get one from Ebay or any site with a price that seems too good to be true.

Ok, I know this thread is old, but I'm not gonna make a new one.

My car (2000 A4 1.8T) is spitting out blue smoke every so often while accelerating from a stop. The turbo sounds normal and there is always a faint smell of oil. I checked the oil levels and it is currently below the recommended amount. Now this must be an oil leak, but what can be wrong? Bad seals? Am I looking at a huge repair bill?

I'm calling my mechanic first thing in the morning, but I was hoping someone could give me a heads up about this issue before then. Thanks in advance.

could be turbo seals, and if so, you would be looking at a new turbo, drop in new 600ish, used cheap, real upgrade = bank

I replaced the turbo...Problem solved. Mine didn't sound bad or drive bad either, but smoked a little at first then eventually was like a Spy Hunter smoke screen. I changed it out myself, so the bill wasn't that bad.

I'm suspecting the turbo as well. I changed the oil and added some of that oil filler leak stopper crap for now just in case. The car is going in for a check tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks man. Actually I haven't painted them yet. The pic in my sig is a photoshop (notice the headlights as well. clear corners) I did before I decided I wanted to actually paint them. I plan on posting real pics as soon as they're ready.

Another photoshop.

I don't normally get out of my car when I start it, but the other day I did and I noticed smoke coming out then too.... as opposed to while driving like I originally stated. So I took a video.

Now, my car has had issues starting for almost as long as I'd owned the car (a year). Notice in the beginning of the video it doesn't turn over immediately. And when it does finally start the revs jump to about 1200 and stay there... so I wait about a minute for it to go to normal before driving.

But look at the ******* smoke! I'm scared to **** to drive my car now and my mechanic can't get me in for a few days. I change my oil and used some thicker weight oil, which seemed to temporarily fix the smoke while driving issue. I'm not going to drive my car at all for a while.

Note: the car only does this after letting it sit for a night or for a long period of time and then starting it.
