Boost gauge!

Hey AF, I need to get myself a boost gauge soon and I want your imput. I'm leaning towards a vent mount because I despise column mounts. Where can I get a vent mount fairly cheap. AWE's are like $250 and that seemed somewhat steep. I don't mind if it doesn't work as a vent anymore or if I need to paint. Any other mounting locations to look into?

Also, any suggestions on a turbo timer?

i cut out and dremelled a spot in one of my vents so it fit right in... all i did was buy the boost gauge!!

I'm hesitant to do that because I don't want to fuck it up. A nasty warped vent is not what I need.

2nd! i did mine that way too. especially cause i wanted mine in the drivers side vent and wasnt sure if the manufactured one fit or not. the install of it is pretty damn simple, just pop out the vent with a screw driver and take out all the extra plastic pieces used to move the vent. then start cutting away but not too much. just keep trying to fit the gauge in after every cut so you know you didnt cut too much out. thing that sucks for you is you have to wire up the power to the fuse/relay panel. 00 and 01 have wires in the vent for the little vent light that can be tapped into. and look at it this way, if you eff it up, just find someone parting out their car and im sure they would sell it pretty damn cheap.

I dremeled mine out using sandpaper to fine tune the fit as well... Not that hard to do, just takes patience and taking a little bit off at a time until it fits snuggly.

+1 more for using a dremel

Thats how I did mine. It takes a little bit of patience and a steady hand. Start from the middle of the vent and trace out the gauge on the two center cross pieces, cut away until you can trace onto the next set of cross memebers etc.

I have 2 used Autometer boost gauges I no longer use if you need one cheap. One is silver face and the other is white face.
