bose amp problem
i have a 96 a4 with the bose system and an aftermarket head unit. recently replaced some speakers and installed subs. at that point we decided that the bose amp was not needed and disconnected it.(pulled off the adapter and kept wires plugged into that.) all worked fine until i cut the wires to remove the adapter so i could sell the amp, and now the stereo is dead. all wires behind the HU are still connected and the fuse is fine. solutions?
Did you cut all the wires at once, or did you cut them one at a time? Also, the wiring still needs to go through the amp to get to the speakers, unless you ran new wiring from the HU (or amp) to the new speakers. If not, you're probably screwed.

we ran all new wires for the speakers from the HU, and when we disconnected the amp from the connector, all worked fine. when i cut the wires out, i cut them one by one and the HU just went dead. completely black, no lights. the small colored wires(which i presume are anti theft wires?) dont even connect in the back of the HU, the only wires that do are the power and ground.i still have the amp and connector if i need to reconnect that for everything to work.
i wouldnt have messed with the bose amp at all you couldve just ran some speaker wires from the front with the rcas to the back with another amp just for mids, there you couldve got more power from like lets say a 600 watt amp, plus the bose doesnt seem to power the speakers enough with an after market radio to keep up with the subs
