Default Brake Light Problem... PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a 97 Audi A4 1.8T with no quattro. My rear brake pads wear shot, so knowing how to do brakes, I replaced them my self. When I got done I drove it to get the oil changed and when I got out, the rear pasenger side brake was smoking. So the shop that was doing the oil change did a brake check and the passenger rear caliper was siezed and constantly sqeezing the brakes.

It caused the rotor to warp, so I went home and next day I replaced the rotor and caliper. When I took the rotor off the bearings in that wheel looked horrible. So I bought new bearings, greased em up, put on the new rotor and caliper and test drove it. The car and brakes work fine, however when I hit 10mph the ABS light and the brake light on the dash came on. Both lights are solid and not blinking. I parked the car and turned it off for a sec. When i turned it back on the lights came on for second like they normally do and then went out. I backed the car up for about a block and they stayed off, however when I put it in drive and hit about 10mph again they both came back on.

I've searched the forums, and have checked the brake fluid level, it is right below the maximum line. And the car brakes fine with a nice stiff brake pedal so I'm pretty sure there isn't any air in the lines. I also see people on here saying it could be the abs control module, but I don't think that is it cause i didnt have the light problem until after I took the rotor, caliper and bearings out and replaced them.

So I'm wondering if there is a sensor or something that I didn't hook up, or knocked loose. Again its the passenger rear wheel of a 97 a4 without quattro. Any help and/or sugestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Have it scanned for codes (free at AutoZone). Post the results here and we'll go from there.

I took it to AutoZone they said they can't scan for codes on the brake system only for the check engine light. They told me to try AAMCO. And they told me they can't do it on audi's and that I need to take it to an audi dealership. But now I'm mad cause I know they're gonna charge a fortune just to scan the computer for codes.

So what might the problem be? A sensor? Or did I not bleed the system right (would that cause the lights to come on?), the guy at the vw/audi parts store said that you can't bleed the audi brake system by just opening the bleed screw and pressingthe pedal like a normal car. Is this true?

It sounds like your abs sensor or speed sensor on that side. I had a similar thing happen when mine went out, It would drive fine until like 10-15 mph and then the one bad side started to just sieze and not let go until I pulled the sensor. Later I replaced them. Try pulling fuse 7 to disable your abs or disconnect the sensor from the system under your rear seat. Try going to a parts yard and looking for just about any speed sensor you can pull out by hand, most likely its still good, the frozen ones you have to chip out are usually bad. I got mine real cheap and I cleaned out the holes very well they were clogged with dirt and rust. Looks like mine were never changed.
