I was cleaning out my car today and found a button in the drivers side pillar and pressed it a few times, didn't do anything. it looks stock. any one knows what it is

i believe it enables or disables a motion sensor for when the alarm is set. e.g. you might disable it if you kept your dog in the car (for short periods of time, of course)

i think its to activate the motion sensor. look at the vent in the upper center of your dash and in the center there should be a little bubble.

yeah leave a treat for the dog so he wont chew your nice leather interior or your steering wheel

Its to deactivate the interior motion sensors, necessary if you leave the windows cracked as the wind will set the alarm off. The sensors are located at the top of the B pillar.

IIRC, the bubble sensor in the dash vent is a sunlight sensor to aid the climate control.

damn i didnt know that wind would set off the alarm with the windows down, i always leave my sunroof open to let the head out while at school.

haha i always wondered why my alarm would go off if i left my sunroof open, i knew there was sensors and what not but i didnt know they were that sensitive.

chocalotstarfish 10-13-2010 12:02 PM

Yeah my button is broke so the wind always trips my alarm!

Indeed, I believe the sensitivity can be adjusted using VAG-COM as well.

the technology they were putting in cars in 99 still surpasses the technology of some cars from 2010. i cant believe that some 2010 cars dont have one touch windows. haha the little things that you take for granted.
