Can't hear turbo spool.....

I have a 2000 1.8tq 5spd and it has the GIAC chip installed. Ever since the chip was installed I could always hear the turbo spool, but starting this last Monday I can't hear it anymore. I have no codes pulling up on the Vag Com. The wierd thing is that I still hear my DV "woosh" sound just like normal. Also when I hit 3k RPMS I still feel that power "kick in" just like how it's always been, just can't hear the turbo.

I live in nor-cal and the weather has been getting warmer, so I'm not too sure how that will effect it. I know that colder weather makes the turbo louder (i think)...but I mean I can't hear it at all.

Any ideas? Thanks!

ummm, you should think about investing in a boost guage....it will help you monitor the health of your turbo...

where in Nor Cal are you?...im in redding....

so, umm, if your car feels exactly the same, you are prolly driving with your windows down...drive around tonight with your windows up, and you should hear it just fine...

weather definately plays a role, my car felt a$$ slow earlier today :(...stupid sun!

Yea, I'm going to be buying a boost guage once my tax returns come in the mail. I only got the chip in Feb, so that's why I didn't buy one right away.

I drove with both my windows up and down today, still the same thing. I'll try again later tonight though.

I live in Roseville, which is about 10 minutes away from Sacramento.

I bought the chip from IPB Autsport in Sac, they were the closest authorized dealer in the area and the people there were pretty cool.

Thanks for the help.
