Can't pass emissions: O2, cats, HELP please thanks
Hi again. Posted here a bunch and always had good luck with your info, so ... here we go again.
Failed emissions. Throwing 0411, 0422, 0432. I tried to re-set with tool, and with disconnecting battery. Hooked it up again and (state) test says NOT READY FOR TESTING. If I drive it 15 miles (after resetting with generic OBD2 tool) the codes pop up again. So I don't know if I can get it through with resetting and driving a bit. So maybe I need to actually work on the car? Mechanics there say even if the code is saying cats it may just be O2 sensors. Does anyone have experience with these codes? THe car is a 98 A4 2.8 Q, manual, 30v, 220K. I don't know if I am going to put money into this car as it is pretty old, due for t-belt service, etc. Still runs great and is super-dependable so its a shame to get rid of it for the freakin emissions test!!! Is it really killing the planet??? |
0411 Secondary Air Injection System flow incorrect
Problem with the SAI pump or associated hoses 0422/0432(?) Catalyst problem Most likely O2 sensors need to be replaced Could be an easy fix, or could be more complicated. If you are going to do the work yourself it probably wont be too bad. However, it could take more money than you are willing to put into it if you are going to a shop. Good luck. keep us updated |
