car is misfiring?

hmm i hope its not the coil.. how come you had to replace the coil three times? were you replacing it with used ones?

i dont think its the coil, because when the car is under full load, its running on all cylinders and moving right along.. just at steady throttle i am getting the misfire.. which hopefully means the filter is restricting smooth even flow of gas.

the mechanic damaged it one time and all other times it must of had a defect from the factory. they were all new

lol geez that sucks! iono im gonna go pick up a filter tomorrow and check it out... just keeping my fingers crossed it will take care of it. i had asked this question earlier but i saw a DIY on how to change it but it stated it was a quattro.. so my car is a FWD.. same instructions?

Maybe a seafoam treatment would help? if not im sure a seafoam treatment would of prevented it from happening.

Note to self: keep a gallon of premium in my trunk

tried the seaform, didnt help.. the miss is always there.. so i am just crossing the fingers on the filter being the reason, i will update today.

hey where is this fuel filter located? i have a 98 2.8 non quattro.. i saw those instructions, but my filter looks different so i kinda was wondering where it was.. for some reason i thought it was behind the plastic fender shroud in the passenger rear.. any help?

fuel filter didnt fix the problem.. FML. any other thoughts?

hauser what kind of problems were you experiencing with the coil burnt out? just one cylinder was never firing? or was it like more like sometimes firing, sometimes not?

I thought for a long time that I had something really wrong with my misfire issue...i changed out the fuel filter, seafoam, plugs, coil packs, maf...you name it. Turns out that the coilpacks i was buying from the part store we just **** quality. After i got authentic ones from the audi dealer, no problems. MJ, so all you have done is fuel filter and seafoam?
