Car ran fine this morning now woun't start
Ok so I went out to start my car to grab some dinner and it started for a few seconds then died. When I turn the ignition on my check engine light is faintly blinking with the rpm needle going up and down. Anyone had this issue before? Its been raining here pretty heavily the past couple of days but my car started fine this morning.

Wish I knew the answer. Someone else had a car that wouldn't start, and then an hour later it started up no problem (if I understood the post properly). I think they said they had an p0322 error (engine speed sensor).
But your problem sounds different, because the car started, the CEL was blinking, and the RPM's were fluctuating and then the car died. (Am I understanding this correctly?)
The car might start and work tomorrow. If the CEL (check engine light) is blinking then the owners manual says that you can drive it slowly (to get home, or to a shop) - but prolonged driving can kill the CAT. (Oh - I had a blinking CEL a few weeks ago. When I turned the car off, waited a few seconds and then turned it back on, it eventually worked fine with a solid CEL).
I'd try to get someone to read the engine codes and see what's going on.
If you want to read your own codes (forgive me if you've already done this) I think you can get a cable for $25 (or less) from ebay, and you can download vag-com for free (if you have a laptop). There are lots of threads about vag-com. I think it is made by ross-tech. It's actually $99 or so, but the 'free' version lets you read (and maybe reset) your codes.
I think you can also get inexpensive code readers for less than $50 if you want to keep one with you.
Hopefully someone with more experience will chime in - I've only had my car for a couple of weeks myself. Once you know the error codes you can post them here for the 'experts' to see. Also, you can get some info on the code from: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/16795/P0411/001041 (and type your code into the search box).

Bad timing
Bad MAF
Bad O2 sensor
Vacuum leak
Boost leak
etc.

That list has both trivial and scary items on it! The engine codes will make things a lot clearer. Some auto parts shops will scan the codes for you (if you can get the car there).
Some places will even let you borrow their scanner.
Good luck!

The check engine light is not on. When I turn the key it starts cranking but doesnt start. If I leave the key in the on position I hear a clicking noise coming from what sounds like the drivers side of the engine compartment.
