Default Car wont move but speedo goes up

ok so now today is another problem. i got home from work no problems then. i left with a friend and my girlfriend was going to use the car. she tried to turn around andin mid turn nothing. no power to the wheels it seems like to me that it is a CV, because when the car is on now you can put it in gear but just revs up and if you put it in drive same but the speedo will go up with it. what do you think it could be

well it wouldn't be a CV joint since you most likely have quattro therefore you would still have 3 of 4 wheels able to turn. Need more info. Manual or auto? If its an auto when you put it into D do you hear it trying to do something?

No, if one axle fails the car will not move. It will send all the power to the broken axle.

Thats what I would guess the problem is, time to do some inspecting.

I had a CV joint fall apart in my driveway and it wouldn't move at all, but it did make quite a bit of noise.

It's easy, they already answered it... You broke and axle/cv... Jack up the car motor off and in gear see what wheel turns freely **** your likely to just see the break!
