Central Locking
Just a quick post if anybody has any ideas on how to solve my little problem.
The central locking works only if locked by key from the passenger door. It seems like putting the key in the driver door and turning it does nothing at all, but all 4 doors (and boot) lock by using the passenger door, so I have to walk around the car to lock it. Any ideas? Thanks. |
I'd say the vacuum line on the driver's side door is broken.
|
if the vac line on the driver door was broken it wouldnt lock at all would it? i would think more just the actual lock mechanism may be bad. does the FOB work?
|
I would think the electrical switch in the key cylinder to signal the locking pump is bad. Does the driver door lock or unlock at all, but not the other doors? If so it sounds like some linkage in or around the key cylinder is damaged, you could take off the inner door panel and take a look.. If the vac line was damaged then the drivers door shouldnt lock or unlock from the passenger side either.

Totally missed read your post. I thought the driver's side wouldn't lock at all.
I'd agree with raudi28. It's probably the key mechanism that's broken. What year is your Audi? |
It's R reg, 97 I think.
The whole car locks from the passenger side. Using the drivers door, nothing locks. The key turns but no actions after that. It doesn't have a radio fob. Hope that's more helpful. |
yeah it must be the locking mechanism in your door or the wiring to it. nothing else that i can think of would make it do this
