Default chipped k04 or mbc diode?

I have a pretty much stock 01 awm. I replaced the worn out k03 with a ko4 because it wasnt that much diff of a price. Im now looking to get a little more power out of her. I talked to a rep at ecstuning and they said that apr didnt make a chip for the k04 b5s so there goes that. I really didnt want to add any other mods to the car but just want some more power. What would be the best way to go? The diode mode and up the boost a bit? Or just go with a ko3 apr chip? Please help an old DSMer out with this. Bleeder valve is all we used to need haha. thanks in advance.

Does it have to be APR? Why not GIAC who makes a set for the k04?

No doesn't have to be apr. On Giacs website it says I need bigger injectors and intercooler piping. Really didn't want to add all that stuff. I really just want to leave the rest of the car stock but add a chip or up the boost.

Well that's about the only way you will get out of the k04 is doing it that way. If not your just running a k03 tune which isn't made for the k04. So basically you spent the money to upgrade the turbo for no reason. Running a k03 tune with a k04 you will put out k03 #'s if not worse.

Check out the DIY section for the $150 FMIC mod and check this and other forums for injectors. I honestly did mine for a little less cause i shopped around for a while... You can do the diode mod and get around 17-18psi but no more...chips will get ya in the 20s.

I'm not looking to get a huge amount of boost as this car is my daily driver. I have built a 450+hp talon and I know with more power things break pretty easily. Want to retain great driveablity and just an increase in performance. Didn't really want to get into doing injectors and fmic.

I'd sell the ko4 then.

I'm not switching out the turbo. If I do the mbc and diode mode I should be safe to run 16-17psi without any issues correct?
