chrome window trim?!
another quick question.. ive looked all over for the chrome exterior window trim ive seen on some of your rides and it looks amazing.. especially on darker cars. i just didnt know where you all got it.. did you scuff down the moldings and there is metal underneath? then polish it... or is there special trim only on 2.8s? cause it looks rediculous good...
and sure enough.. i even searched for related threads and it said it couldnt find anything that related to my search.. but i look at the bottom of this now and i see that like a bunch of other people have asked the same thing.. hahaha searches work real good sometimes huh
While were on the subjectof Chrome Window Trim, I was hoping I could fins a few answers. It appears mine is faded or dull in most area. Although the paint looks fresh as ever, the trim looks very faded / weathered.
It there anyway to restore this?
I've been thinking of the gold'ish chrome trim that a few cars used to have a few years ago. I believe a detailer would go to various car dealerships and do something to the oem chrome trim to make it look gold'ish in appearance. I wonder if that's an option I can use. I think the gold colour would go well with my black ca.
Ideas, suggestions, comments??

The gold trim on new cars is usually part of a "gold package" in which they electroplate the badges with a gold finish. I have seen home electroplating kits from www.eastwoodcompany.com (fantastic company to deal with, and they have literally EVERYTHING when it comes to redoing cars), and they're not terribly expensive. You can gold-plate, chrome-plate, nickel-plate, you name it. It'd be worth checking out - I bet to have it redone by someone would be pretty costly.
hey, i know this thread is like a year old, but sjchwauren, if you are still wondering, i have been trying to get my chrome trim on my 2.8 refinished as well, and i have tried 3 different chrome polishes and nothing had worked.
Today, it was like 65 degrees, which is very warm, and my buddy brought the buffer home from his body shop to buff out my paint. We buffed out the car and then as he was buffing a scratch near my chrome trim, he accidently hit the trim just barely, and the chrome looked brand new. He then took the buffer to the chrome, and it is now as good as new. just get a buffer and scrub the hell out of the chrome trim, just watch the rubber window weatherstrip as well as the glass on the windows, because buffing either of those is very bad. be careful but in the end, you will LOOOVE the look. peace guys
