1996 audi a4 2.8l 12v

throwing a code for faulty mass air flow sensor. i unplugged the maf while the car is running just to make sure if it runs better or not. the car immediatley dies when i unplug it. plug the sensor in and starts right up. got me stumped. car is idling around 700rpms.

also have another code: failed throttle position does not close/open circuit.

explanation: misadjusted throttle plate

probable causes
-open or short ciruit condition
-failed closed throttle position switch.

my guess is the tps is faulty. any help appreciated. and yes i have searched
