Climate Control issues

Hey everybody... I have some climate control problems :(
1st: When I have the CC on either for heat or ac, the fan speed changes on it's own... I usually like to have it on really low and before I know it, it's on really high. So I turn it down, and then it goes back up after a few minutes.
2nd: The buttons seem to stick a little bit, which as everyone know, makes it so that you can't change ANYTHING on the unit.

My drive this morning: I head out of my driveway, kick on the heat (high temp, low speed, with the floor vent on). After about 1/2 mile the fan speed goes up quite a bit, and I notice that it is starting to get warm so I turn the fan down and change to the main vents, not the floor. A couple of minutes later the fan speed starts going up again, it's kind of nice so I don't change it. Once it gets a little too warm I try and turn it down, but the stupid vent button is stuck and I can't change anything. I mess with the button A LOT and hit the side of the dash... nothing works. I even pulled out a knife (at a stop light) and try messing with the button. No luck. So, I roll down the windows and drive the rest of the way with them down. I pull into the parking lot at work and guess what?! The button pops out...... stupid! I don't usually use the heater but when its 38 degrees I kind of have to :)

I have done about an hour of research this morning, but I didn't want to bump old threads... so sorry.

From what I can gather, the fan speed changing on it's own is pretty common and most people just deal with it. And the sticky buttons, people pull the unit out and clean the buttons and contacts. I am fine with both if that's what's best..... but I haven't been able to find a diy for the CC removal for this car. The audidiy site wasn't very helpful for my MY. Any advise and direction is greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, "CC" in this thread is for climate control.... just in case anyone is confused about "cruise control" and my temperature issues :)
I am sure that it is obvious but you never know ;)

Front dash vent do not work

I have a 99 A4 I picked 'cause I needed a car, lots my job and company car!

I cannot get flow from the front A/C vents. Defrost and floor are fine, and the button works and lights up.

I'm guessing the switches control a motor that actuates a valve in the system. Any ideas on where to start, is this a common problem?

Thanks.

Mine does the exact same thing. Kind of has a mind of it's own. How I work around it is I never press Auto, or the Heat buttons. I just raise or lower the temperature manually. I'm sure you can fix this by just buying a new CC.

This may be your problem, but I've been dealing with it for the last 4 years so you get used to it lol.

Don't know what year your car is, but if it's 99.5 or later, you can pull codes straight from the CC.

By the way, don't EVER buy OEM genuine Audi parts from ecstunning, they are priced the same or close to the Audi dealer, prices.

Only buy aftermarket parts from ecstuning ;)

Instead, always shop at https://genuineaudiparts.com for OEM Audi parts, much cheaper if you need to go, OEM :)

This same part you linked to the original poster, costs way less from genuineaudiparts:

Part Number 8L0820043DB98
