Coolant temp sensors from Autozone faulty??

I'm about to go to the dealer to pick up an original one in hopes that this will fix my problem. A few months back my car would not want to start at random times until I disconnected and reconnected the battery. I got a new cts from AZ and had no problems for about 3 months until it started happening again. It has a lifetime warrenty so I exchanged it for another one and this time the EPC would come on sometimes while the engine was running along with starting problems and yesterday the car just shut off while pulling up into my driveway.

it shouldn't cause your car to shut off, it does fit the other symptoms tho. i replaced mine and the one i took out was pretty much black and i never had the car die on me. maybe you have another problem underlying.

I just put on the dealer part and the car still won't start. I pulled up the code p1517 (Main Relay Circuit Electrical Malfunction) . I did some searching and found that it could be a fuse and/or the ECM relay. Anyone here had to deal with this before?

Ok this is funny. I found the ecm relay and pulled it out to look at it and hit it on my hand a couple of times to see if it was stuck or something. Then I put it back in and checked for codes and it magically disappeared. Then I tried to start the car and it started right up. I think it would be a good idea to have an extra ecm relay handy though.

replace it with a new one and then keep the "sketch" spare

LOL. That's exactly what my wife suggested that I should do.
