Default Different alternators?

Are there two different alternators? I need to replace mines and ECS shows two different ones but both says it fit our car. I have a 97 Quattro A4. Can anyone chime in please?

Surely one is just larger to accommodate more electronics?

Can you pull your current one off and look? Particularly at the part #.

You can also try chatting with ECS, they've been helpful when I've had questions.

Thanks for the reply, I spoke with ECS and they told me the bottom one is the correct alternator for my year.

On my car, you have the option of a 90 amp alternator and a 120 amp alternator. Mine came with the 90, but I replaced it with the 120. They both work & fit fine.

I read a thread where switching to a 120amp is doable, I'm just confused with the back part of these alternators. I'm thinking I can't switch to a 120amp because of how the back part of my alternator is

You have to remember that I have a different engine. Just call your local auto parts store and ask what's available for your car. Mine showed both. If yours doesn't, then you know what you need.
