diode mod:who's running it

hello all. just wondering who is running the 'diode mod' while i have been waiting for vvme to send my hid kit (it would have been easier to chew glass and shi! out HID's) i have been refreshing my memory as far as the diode mod is concerned. i have known about it for some time, but just havent done it. the car has been dead nuts 100% reliable and kind of want to keep it that way, but a 500.00 revo flash is a tough pill to swallow, when for a .35 diode and a 100.00 boost controller will do the same. not looking for 900hp and a zillion FP of torque, just a bit more bang out of the stock set up while keeping it reliable. so, post your results if you would be so kind :D

All info in sig and you need an 00+ to do it.

I have 2 cars running it and one for about 2 years now and the other for about 1 year. No problems at all.

cincy, you are my hero!! i was going to pick your brain a bit when i go to do it. i love your posts, here and on poortex. i have a 99 and think it will work :Dkidding! i have an 01~. i will be on the 'conservitave' side and run like 14-15LBS of boost. where did you get your diode's? radio shack gave me a blank stare like a year ago, so i haven't really moved forward. i have no prob with online shopping, but if i could get it locally.......

I got mine on ebay. But you can send Red Saphire in the TT section a pm and he can send you a few for like $1.

I run 20psi on the TT and 18psi on the passat (since the injectors are smaller) You dont have to be that consevative and keep it at 15psi.

cincy, you helped me out with it on my 2000 a4. the 2000 has a map sensor so it works great. I have had it for 7months and it is awesome. I brought up the timing and fuel using lemmiwicks to get a little better air/fuel ratio. I cant imagine that having a chip will give that much more horsepower. What are ur thoughts about hp ratings between chip and diode. BTW i have it at 17psi with no problems at all.

yes 2000+.

The only one i have seen dynoed was pretty right up there with a chip. The person that dynoed only added in a higher fpr and nothing else

Nate, if I'm already chipped what sort of problems am I going to run into, if I want to do this?

the only point in running a diode with a chip is if you push the turbo past a certian psi and hit limp.

I wouldn't mind a couple more pounds of boost.

So wait, what's the diode mod relative to an E/MBC? If they're not the same thing...

RE: diode mod:who's running it

the diode wont be able to prodeuce the hp numbers as the chip because the chip raises the rev limiter which produce more hp (not just cause the rev limiter is higher but it's an effect of it) back when i had mine running 17psi on the diode with some lemmi tunning i could walk on an 07si with ease.. ALL i did with lemmi was advance the timming, add some fuel, and adjust idle torque.
